Bringing Stories to Life
For the third year in a row, Meta asked us to help make their HQ space a focal point of the world’s foremost tech gathering. But this year was different. The stakes were higher than they’ve ever been. Stories was celebrating the unreal milestone of one billion Stories shared daily across their apps.
We had to find a way to reintroduce innovators, decision makers, media, influencers, visionaries, and potential customers to one of the most ubiquitous features across all of social. It wasn’t enough to simply fill a space. We had to reimagine what was possible in a space.
So for 2019, we brought Stories to life. Literally.
Stories Tell the Story
Installations throughout the space made the value of Stories tangible. Case studies, interactive demos, and hands-on learning blended with moments of discovery. Other Meta technologies and apps were on display, supporting the future-forward tone that CES audiences expect.
Transporting You Into The Story
The footprint guided attendees through a sequence of story-driven moments, each offering opportunities to learn, create, or participate. Centered around the impact stories have when they’re shared, the layout balanced functional workspaces with intimate social areas. Each zone was adaptable enough to support any narrative or need while demonstrating how meaningful connection drives results.

The journey began with an immersive entry corridor that separated attendees from CES chaos and brought them into Facebook’s world. Dubbed “The Hall of Reactions,” the tunnel echoed the visual cues from the Stories interface. It functioned as a portal and a photo-op, inviting visitors to share the story of their visit before they even stepped inside.
As guests moved into the space, data-driven exhibits sat comfortably alongside human-centered interactions, offering multiple pathways into the idea of storytelling.
A Space Designed to Storytell
The interior was organized as a series of interconnected zones. UI-inspired elements brought capabilities like polls and Messenger out of devices and into the physical environment. Guided floor paths encouraged participation in the space and across social platforms. Visitors moved through choose-your-own-adventure-style prompts that made engagement intuitive and fun.
Screens enabled Messenger video calls, connecting attendees with the outside world and demonstrating that storytelling isn’t confined to physical environments. A coffee bar, cozy conversation spaces, and conference rooms supported meetings, content capture, and networking.
How the Story Unfolded
As the environment shifted from daytime business hub to evening social venue, storytelling unfolded naturally. Visitors compared CES notes over coffee, explored how Stories could advance their business goals, connected with colleagues, called home, and shared moments from the space in real time. Storytelling was unavoidable.
The environment didn’t just showcase Stories. It became one. Proving how easily stories unfold when the environment is designed to spark them.
